Bible verse wallpapers for iPhone

Below are twelve free Bible verse wallpapers for iPhone, each in a light and a dark version: Psalm 56:3, Isaiah 40:31, John 14:27, Proverbs 3:5 and more, in the King James Version. They are 1179×2556 pixels with the top third left clear for the Lock Screen clock. Tap one to save it, then set it in Settings › Wallpaper.

Twelve verses, light and dark

Each verse comes twice: light, in the warm paper of a morning sky, and dark, near-black for night and for OLED screens. The verse sits in the middle of the screen — the top third is left empty for the clock and the date, so nothing is covered.

The verses are in the King James Version. They were picked for a screen you see a hundred times a day: short enough to read at a glance, and each one a whole thought.

How to set one as your wallpaper

  1. Tap a wallpaper above and save it to Photos.
  2. Open Settings › Wallpaper › Add New Wallpaper › Photos and choose it.
  3. Pinch to place it if needed — the verse should sit below the clock — and tap Add.
  4. Tap Set as Wallpaper Pair to use it on the Home Screen as well, or Customize Home Screen to blur it there.

You can also press and hold the Lock Screen, tap +, and choose Photos — the same steps from a different door.

Wallpaper or widget?

A wallpaper is one verse that stays until you change it. If you want a different verse each morning, use a widget instead: it sits in the box under the clock and changes by itself. The guide to a Bible verse on the Lock Screen shows both, step by step.

Questions people ask

How do I set a Bible verse as my iPhone wallpaper?

Tap a wallpaper below and save the image to Photos. Then go to Settings › Wallpaper › Add New Wallpaper › Photos, choose it, and tap Add. Choose “Set as Wallpaper Pair” to use it on the Home Screen too.

Will these wallpapers fit my iPhone?

They are 1179×2556 pixels, the screen of the iPhone 15, 16 and 17 Pro. On other iPhones iOS scales them to fit; the verse sits in the middle of the screen, so it stays clear of the clock and the dock on every size.

Are these wallpapers free to use?

Yes. The King James Version text is in the public domain outside the UK, and the wallpapers carry no watermark. Share them, print them, use them in a church slide.

What is the best Bible verse for a lock screen?

A short one you can take in at a glance: Psalm 56:3 (“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee”), Psalm 46:10, Psalm 118:24 or 1 John 4:19. All four are below.

Can the verse on my lock screen change every day?

A wallpaper can't, but a widget can. A verse widget sits under the clock and shows a new verse each day without you doing anything — see how to set one up below.
